Sumiyaki Torikou is an izakaya in Kyoto that serves charcoal-grilled chicken yakitori and side dishes. Choosing the seven-course omakase makes it easier to pick skewers, and chicken-broth oden can be ordered as well. A party of four walking in at 8 p.m. found no table available and was given a reservation for 40 minutes later, and there was a courtyard inside. A seating charge is collected, yet the basic cabbage or small appetizer is sometimes missing.
