Shirohato Bakery is a small neighborhood bakery in a residential area near Nishiki Market in Kyoto. It offers many whole-wheat breads along with salt bread, chocolate bagels, and cream buns. The store is so narrow that two people fill it, and by around 4 p.m. on weekdays only 20 to 30 percent of the bread remains. Arriving late leaves almost no bread.
