Kyo gateau the marie is a specialty shop in Kyoto that sells rice-flour cakes and pudding, located in an alley past the gate of Yakusen Natsume a few minutes north of Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station along Fuyamachi-dori. It makes gluten-free cakes from rice flour and soy butter topped with flowers, along with a roll cake filled with almond-scented cream, goji berries, and jam. The shop has a calm eat-in space centered on white, and cakes and pudding are available for takeout. The location inside an alley, not visible from the main street, is a drawback.
