Jouvenceille Oike Store is a Kyoto-style Western confectionery in Nakagyo Ward that sells cakes, baked sweets, and jellies, a five-minute walk from the Karasuma Oike subway station. Its signature sweet, Saganoji, combines Japanese ingredients with Western confectionery techniques, while Taketorimonogatari is made with large chestnuts, black beans, and sesame. Baked sweets for gifts can be chosen as individually wrapped single items, and staff tend to speak little. Saganoji sells out if you arrive late, so a reservation or an early visit is needed.
