Nagoya Castle Tenshukaku is the central keep of the castle that represents Nagoya, a five-story, five-tier structure with one basement level topped by a golden shachihoko. Completed around 1612, it was destroyed in an air raid in 1945 and rebuilt in reinforced concrete in 1959. Its height reaches 55.6 meters up to the tenshu base, which from the plaza below corresponds to the height of a 16- to 17-story building. Due to insufficient earthquake resistance, interior viewing has been closed since May 2018.
