Honmaru Goten is a restored historical site inside Nagoya Castle that served as the office and living quarters of the Owari domain lords. Gold-decorated doors, tatami, and wall paintings filling the rooms show the splendor of the Edo-period palace. Before entering, visitors watch a 30-second introductory video, take off their shoes, and change into slippers, and cannot go inside each room. Walking barefoot can make the soles and heels hurt.
