Daichoji

Daicho-ji is a Buddhist temple east of Sakuranomiya Bridge in Miyakojima Ward, Osaka. It appears in Chikamatsu Monzaemon's Edo-period joruri and kabuki play Shinju Tenno Amijima as the place where Jihei and Koharu took their lives together. Within the grounds are the couple's biyotsuka and a carp tomb, which follow the events of the play. The temple was formerly located near the Fujita Museum.
