Kumano Shrine sits inside Shiba Park in Tokyo, next to Zojoji, on the path where people stop to photograph Tokyo Tower. It was founded in 1624 as a guardian shrine for the deity protecting Zojoji's northeast corner. A three-legged yatagarasu is carved at the water basin where visitors wash their hands. The grounds are quiet for a central Tokyo location, and the shrine is small enough to pass by without noticing.
