串揚げ きよた

Kushiage Kiyota is an izakaya in Kumamoto that serves kushikatsu, a 15-minute walk from Sakuramachi. At each table, skewers ordered are fried to order in a fryer beside the table, and diners can try Osaka-style sauce and vegetables such as Kumamoto-grown tomatoes. It opens at 5 p.m., alcohol is poured self-service, and the owner cooks skewers for anyone who cannot fry them. There is no English menu and the owner does not speak English well, so explaining an order is inconvenient.
