Kameido Tenjin Shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, and sits within walking distance of Kameido Station. The shrine grounds include the Shinji Pond, where the red Taikobashi bridge crosses the water, wisteria blooms, and Tokyo Skytree visible behind. Many turtles live in Shinji Pond, and omikuji and ema are available at the shrine. The plum festival and wisteria festival periods draw large crowds.
