Akinai Jemyun

Akinaije Myeon is a Japanese udon shop near the Chinese embassy in Myeongdong, Seoul, serving nikutama bukkake udon, kake udon, and curry udon. You order the thick, chewy noodles at a kiosk or from staff, then pick them up on a tray when your name or number is called and add tempura and rice balls. At the self-serve bar you take scallions, pickled radish, udon dashi, and tempura flakes. At lunchtime seating is short, and the shop is dark, worn, and generally cluttered.
