The Cheongil Jogyeji Gyeonggye Stairs stand in the old open port area of Incheon. Chinese-style buildings line one side of the stairs and Japanese-style buildings the other, and the stone lamps differ in shape on each side. The stairs were built after the Japanese concession of 1883 and the Qing concession of 1884 were established, and a statue of Confucius stands at the top. A Chinese community and school remain on the Qing side.
