Balwoo Gongyang is on the fifth floor of a modern building across from Jogyesa in Seoul, serving temple cuisine made without meat, seafood, or the five pungent vegetables. Dishes such as ubeong japchae, beoseot gangjeong, and yeonnip bap are lightly seasoned and served in courses, and the restaurant has one Michelin star. All seats are in private rooms, and staff explain the ingredients in detail. Seating is limited, so reservations are required, and the mild seasoning may not suit travellers accustomed to stronger flavours.
