Hakozaki Gu is a shrine in the Hakozaki area of Fukuoka, within a five-minute walk of Hakozakimiya-mae Station. Every year on January 3 at 1 p.m., it holds the 500-year-old Tamaseseri festival, in which teams compete for a wooden ball 28 cm in diameter and weighing 8 kg. Founded in 923, the shrine also hosts a hydrangea festival on its grounds in June. Its scale is small.
