Hakodate Station is a transport hub where travellers arrive and depart by train, close to Hakodate Asaichi and the Hakodate Shiden stop, and where ekiben, Hokkaido sweets and souvenirs can be bought. On the first floor, next to the ticket gates, there are a convenience store, a bento shop and a bakery, while the second floor has a ramen shop and a coffee shop. The second floor also has coin lockers and a paid luggage storage service, and a tourist information desk is on the first floor. The station building is small, so it can feel cramped during busy times.
