Anbandegi Village sits at 1,100 metres above sea level in Wangsan-myeon, Gangneung, and is a highland destination where fields of highland vegetables and wind turbines are visible. During the day the open fields and wind turbines can be seen, and at night the Milky Way and constellations are visible. The village was established by slash-and-burn farmers after 1965, and it takes about one hour by car from downtown Gangneung. The access road is a winding uphill route without streetlights, and the entrance to Mengye Observatory is blocked.
