West Gion is a local udon chain near Gion Station in Fukuoka. It serves mentaiko bibim udon, burdock udon, a tendon and udon set, and curry, and in the afternoon it also offers motsunabe and drinking snacks. It stays open late, draws many solo diners and solo drinkers, and single portions of motsunabe can be ordered. Cards are not accepted; only cash or PayPay.
