Shirunashi Tantanmen Kenkyujo Honten is a specialty shop in Sapporo that serves tantanmen meant to be mixed and eaten without broth, and it sits in a basement. Its main dish, shirunashi tantanmen shin, combines nuts, minced meat and sesame with chewy noodles and a thick sauce, topped with macadamia, onion flakes and shredded scallions. Orders are placed at a ticket vending machine, and after finishing the noodles you can mix in rice to eat it as a different dish. Because it is in the basement of an old building, the entrance and surroundings are somewhat cluttered.
