Hakata Ikkousha Nishi Nakasu serves rich tonkotsu ramen in a back alley on the west side of Nakasu in Fukuoka. The thick broth carries a strong pork smell and comes topped with foam, with noodles and toppings served together. A smell reminiscent of cheonggukjang or hongeo spreads before you even enter the alley, and the shop stays open until late. The broth is so thick and the aroma so strong that the ramen is hard to eat if you are sensitive to smells.
