Pura Tirta Empul is a Hindu water temple near Ubud with a spring-fed pond where purification rituals take place. Visitors wear a sarong around the temple grounds, then change into green clothes and immerse themselves in the holy water. The purification ritual involves a wait of about 40 minutes, and the water is cold enough that staying in it for long can feel chilly. Leaving the site requires walking through a long stretch of souvenir shops, and the changing rooms and locker management are inadequate.
