Siheung Gaetgol Ecological Park opened in 2014 on the site of the former Sorae salt field and covers about 1.5 million pyeong, with salt fields, wetlands, reed beds and flower gardens. Seawater moves in and out along an inner bay gaetgol that meets Sorae Port, and the scenery of dapssari, eoksae and chilmyeoncho changes with the seasons. Migratory birds are best observed from a 22m wooden observation tower, and the walking paths are easy for wheelchairs to use. In midsummer there is almost no shade to escape the sun.
