Asakusa Underground Street

Asakusa Chikagai is an underground shopping arcade on the route from Asakusa Station to Sensoji, with small shops, restaurants and drinking spots gathered inside. Walking its corridors shows the atmosphere of the Showa era and the look of an old underground arcade. The arcade has no air conditioning, so it is humid in summer. Indoor smoking is allowed, so people sensitive to cigarette smoke are better off avoiding it.
